Increasing capacities/reducing horizontal separation to 5 nautical miles

As a result of increasing technical and human capacities, we have successfully implemented the project of reducing the horizontal separation between aircraft, from 10 to 5 nautical miles, which is also known as the global separation/separation standard.

This achievement will serve to increase the efficiency and optimal use of Kosovo’s airspace, shortening the journey, thus reducing delays and fuel consumption.

Above all, safety remains our primary goal. Rigorous testing and comprehensive evaluations have been carried out to ensure the highest safety standards are maintained. The implementation of this project has been done in stages and has been carefully monitored to ensure a smooth transition to this standard.

We remain committed to the continuous increase of our capacities and the optimization of the airspace structure of Kosovo.
