An important part of the AIM system is CRONOS, an application that is mainly used by the Aeronautical Information Service Department and serves to manage the so-called dynamic aeronautical data, such as those detailed in:

• ICAO Doc. 8126 – Aeronautical Information Services

• EUROCONTROL – OPADD – Operating Procedures for AIS Dynamic Data

• ICAO Doc. 4444 – Air Traffic Management

The CRONOS user interface is an Internet interface and uses an Internet Protocol, but is also connected to the Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network (AFTN) and with the ability to connect to the Air Traffic Services Messaging Processing System (AMHS).

The navigation of the interface is similar to a website which is intuitive and enables easy use. The following aeronautical data are processed through CRONOS:

· Static and dynamic aeronautical data in AIXM format 5.1

· NOTAM messages

· FPL messages

· Administrative data

CRONOS also has a Relational Database (CRONOS DB) based on the AIXM 5.1 model. It contains worldwide static and dynamic aeronautical data and aims to generate dynamic aeronautical data (i.e. NOTAMs). It consists of two different data repositories: NavDB and AIM DB.
